To center means to set something in a space of honor and focus. What we place at the center matters. 

In our human serving organizations, we know that the voice of lived experience is essential to continuously improve our systems of care. Lived experience is at the heart of constructing more inclusive and equitable cultures and combating the rigid systems and operational structures that undermine our efforts to uplift and honor all voices.

The idea of centering also brings forward the importance of introspection: making space to question our own lived experience and reflect on the ways in which assumption, bias, and privilege color the lens through which we view our neighbors, clients, communities, organizations, and world.

Join us for our 2023 WAFCA Member Meeting with our partners at the nINA Collective, who are here to guide us in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our association. Through reflection and peer learning, we will explore strategies and opportunities to further our commitment to building inclusive organizations, advocating for a more equitable system of care, and elevating lived experience within our programs and workforce.
